Who doesn’t love Guacamole?!?! It’s a very easy, healthy and versatile side or appetizer.

It goes great with your favorite chips, tacos, bowls, toast, salads and so much more…

Best Garlic Jalapeno Guacamole

As many of you know, avocado is the main ingredient and most recipes include onion, tomato, cilantro, jalapeno, and lime as the main ingredients.

Other recipes have substitutions such as Serrano pepper for more spice; lemon because it is not as tart as lime; garlic to enhance flavor; and red onion instead of white onion.

We decided to add sauteed jalapenos and garlic to enhance the flavor of the recipe.

Which Avocado Should I Get?

Most grocery stores carry Hass avocados that grow in California and Mexico. They are smaller avocados that are darker green and turn purple as they ripen.

Grocery stores also carry a larger avocado sometimes referred to as a Florida avocado. Florida avocados are lighter green.

Florida avocados are better for salads.

Best Tasting Guacamole

For the best-tasting guacamole, you want to choose a Hass avocado because it has a higher healthy fat content and makes creamier guacamole.

How Do You Pick An Avocado?

The first thing to look at is the color of the avocado. If it is too green then it’s not ripe enough.

A perfect Hass avocado should be darker green with a purple hue. When you pick it up, gently press on the skin, it should give a bit.

Creamy Or Chunky Guacamole?

The more it gives the creamier your guacamole will be.

If you want chunkier guacamole, pick a firmer avocado. However, it should still give a bit or it isn’t ripe.

Whether you want it creamier or chunkier, you don’t want to pick an avocado that is too soft or too firm.

How To Store Guacamole?

Ideally, you don’t. However, if you must, the best thing to do is place the avocado pit in the guacamole.

Scoop any remaining guacamole into an airtight container, place plastic wrap on top of the guacamole, and press down.

This prevents oxygen from getting into the container which starts the oxidation process that turns the guacamole brown.
