Baileys French Toast Recipe
We love this classic French toast recipe with our own little twist! Bread, eggs, milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and a little bit of nutmeg…so delicious! Our special ingredient is Bailey’s. This recipe is very easy to make for a sweet and/or savory weekend breakfast.
Special Treat!
French toast is always a special treat. It is also a decadent brunch option for special occasions like birthdays or a special holiday breakfast like St. Patrick’s Day, because of the Bailey’s of course! It is also a nice addition to a Christmas breakfast or brunch with a nice cup of hot chocolate. Our favorite hot chocolate is the Williams Sonoma Salted Carmel.
What Bread to Use?
Challah or brioche are the best bread options. Both loaves of bread taste very similar. The only difference is that challah bread is a Jewish/Kosher bread, so it does not contain any dairy while brioche bread is made with butter.
Endless Possibilities
The best things about French toast are the endless possibilities with all the different toppings you can add. You can do anything from plain butter and maple syrup to chocolate syrup and whipped cream. You can make it as savory or as sweet as you would like depending on your mood or what you have in the refrigerator.
Sweet Options
Some great options for decadent recipes include chocolate sauce, peanut butter, and bananas. If looking for something lighter you can add fresh fruit, whipped cream, and some golden syrup. Whipped cream and strawberries are almost like having a strawberry shortcake for breakfast…Yum!
Savory Options
A great option will be to make it into a breakfast sandwich with ham and Swiss cheese. You could also add some bacon and cheddar cheese. Another great alternative would be adding your favorite sausage patty to this French toast.
Boozy Baileys French Toast
We took our classic French toast recipe and decided to put a little twist on it and make it into a more adult-friendly boozy French toast recipe. By adding a little bit of Bailey’s Irish cream to the egg mixture. We elevated the flavor profile of this classic recipe. This small addition adds a little sweetness with a hint of vanilla and chocolate giving this recipe a great flavor. To make the cooking process even more fun we make ourselves Irish coffee to sip.
Toppings
We decided to use fresh berries and whipped cream to balance out the flavors.
Leftovers
If you have some leftovers. You can store them in the fridge in an airtight container for a couple of days. For best results, reheat them in the toaster oven or a regular oven on a cookie sheet for the best results.
